About Mike & His Puppies
Labrador & Labradoodle Puppies Chicago is located in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, in Mundelein, IL. I'd like to begin by thanking ALL who have adopted my pups, giving them loving and caring homes, as this is my number one goal! I am very cautious to who I adopt my pups out to & do a thorough phone interview before I let anyone come and meet my pups or put a deposit down. I think it's important to establish a relationship with those looking to add a four-legged family member to their family. I have always prioritized DNA & orthopedic testing on all my breeding dogs. There is no way to tell if a dog is carrying genetic disease or has orthopedic issues without doing the appropriate testing.
I began breeding Labradors about 25 years ago & added in Labradoodles a short time later. As the years passed, I have been extremely fortunate to have had top notch veterinarians show me crucial things in advanced puppy care, as well as how to achieve optimum health through things like nutrition & exercise. I am constantly educating myself, striving to breed the most genetically perfect pups out there! Labradors & Labradoodles can suffer from a variety of genetic diseases as well as orthopedic issues such as hip & elbow dysplasia, which is why I focus greatly on proper gene mating, in other words, breeding two dogs that are genetically perfect! I DNA test ALL of my breeding Labradors & Labradoodles.
I also OFA certify the hips & elbows when they reach two years of age. All of my pups have coefficient of inbreeding (COI) of between 0% and 20%, which is the icing on the cake of a genetically sound dog. I take a great deal of pride in my dogs, and pups! I have over 30 years' experience in both nutrition and fitness, which I have incorporated into my breeding program. Nutrition and exercise are just as important to dogs as they are people! I focus on a few things- DNA, orthopedics, low COI, proper nutrition and exercise & of course, lots of love & care! This is the ONLY way to breed SUPER PUPPIES, which become SUPER DOGS!!

We had a great experience working with Mike and adopting our 8 month old puppy Maple. He spent a lot of time with us and helped us pick the right dog for our family. He is also just a very compassionate and caring person who loves what he does, and it shows every time you interact with him.
We had a few concerns with some adjustment behaviors in the beginning, but these were very brief, and Mike was always available to talk through things and provide helpful advice. A couple weeks later, Maple adjusted beautifully and has since been a very happy, playful, bouncy, friendly, and curious puppy. She's great with kids and other dogs. We are very impressed with how smart she is, how much she loves swimming in the lake and fetching (we know she had no experience with this previously), and how quickly she is learning. We've never had a labradoodle before (always rescued mutts), and you can tell these dogs are different/special in a really good way. Just about everywhere we go, people comment on how great she is. We are very happy with our experience!

From the very moment we first contacted Mike regarding information about his puppies, til the moment we took both of our silver labs home he has been nothing short of amazing. He is very knowledgeable regarding all aspects of the breeding process, and I could tell from our first conversation over the phone that he wanted to make sure his puppies were going to a good home. He shared stories about his experiences, from the early days of his business all the way to where he is at today. We picked up Smokey on June 13th and continued to see Mike for his vaccinations. 4 weeks after bringing Smokey home we were back at Mike’s for another round of puppy vaccinations and his only brother remaining in the litter was still there along with two females. Once we saw the two of them back together we knew it was only right to bring him home as well. So now we have Smokey and Stack, and our family couldn’t be any happier. I would highly recommend Mike for any of your needs, whether it be puppies, training boarding, or vaccinations you can tell that he truly loves what he does. We recently adopted the newest member of our family, Nico, from Mike. Mike is so knowledgeable about the breed and the breeding process, and it is clear he cares deeply about all his dogs. Nico is healthy and well behaved already, most likely because he was born into a well-kept, spacious, loving environment for the pups. We were also able to meet Nico’s parents, who were both happy, healthy, and well-behaved. Nico immediately bonded with our two children and our 6 year old Goldendoodle. We are so happy that we found Mike and his pups!

Mike is amazing! And his puppies are amazing! The biggest thing that really sets the standard would be how Mike makes sure that you can truly have a puppy or not. He calls and ensures that you are fit to adopt a puppy. He doesn’t stop there he then sets you up for success when you are bringing them home. The research that he does for the care of the puppies and everything surrounding them is fabulous too. We are first time owners and felt extremely confident thanks to Mike and his constant support. Bringing Rio home has been such a joy!
We are first time dog owners and wanted to make sure that we purchased the right dog for our family. We couldn’t be happier with Carmel. She’s the sweetest dog and she’s quickly become part of our family. Mike was the easy choice for a breeder. His first interest was learning about our family and he wanted to make sure that we would be good caretakers. Our experience was exceptional!!! The breeder, Mike Martinez , was truly great. Was very thorough in his work explaining the dogs lineage, how he trained the dog, complete look at vaccines, the dogs DNA, we were with him for 4 hours and it was totally worth while. We recently took home a chocolate lab from Mike. We did extended training with him and didn’t bring our puppy home until around 4 months. Mike did an amazing job with his training - he is amazing with commands and the use of his crate. Numerous people tell us what a good puppy he is! I would highly recommend Mike. We got a furever puppy from Mike a few weeks ago, and very happy about it. It is our first puppy and we didn't know where to start and what to expect from it. Mike was very attentive to all of our questions and he took time to explain everything we needed to know to transition from having no pup to a new, exciting life with our little guy. Even after we left his house with our puppy, I still had some questions. Texted Mike and he responded quickly with answers.
Mike takes a very good care of his pups. He has a huge backyard space just for them to run around and have fun. He does DNA and orthopedic testing, all appropriate vaccinations etc.

I truly cannot say enough amazing things about Mike and this breeding program. After losing my soul dog, getting another puppy felt emotional and overwhelming, and Mike showed me more kindness, compassion, and understanding than I could have ever expected. He was so patient with me through the entire process and genuinely cared about making sure we were ready and comfortable every step of the way. Mike made the whole process very easy and was great to work with and communicated the whole way through. He spent a good amount of time with us when we went to select our pup. He obviously spends a lot of time doing research and shared his vast knowledge with us.

We got a beautiful male Labradoodle from Mike 2 weeks ago. We can’t say enough good about both Mike and the Pup/ Murphy. He cares who gets his dogs and when you get them they are healthy and clean and all records and tests are in immaculate order. Our Vet even said, He is a wonderfully put together animal and he had nothing but praise for the folder we were given w/ all Murphy’s documentation. Murphy seems as smart as a whip and is learning the basic instruction and lead walking right by your side already at 3 months old. I can proudly say, Mike is the Best I have ever dealt with.

I cannot say enough about Mike or his puppies. When we went to see him, we originally intended to purchase a Labrador. Mike spent a lot of time with us talking about what we were looking for in a pet (e.g., personality, size, energy, shedding level, etc.). We ended up reserving an F1 Labradoodle. Mike also handled two stages of training for our puppy. He kept us updated with pictures and videos throughout the training process and when we brought our puppy home with us, he was housebroken, crate trained, leash trained, and slept through the night. Even after we brought our puppy home, Mike has continued to check in and to be available when we have puppy questions. Our little guy is growing healthy and happy, which is unsurprising considering how much attention Mike pays to his puppies' breeding and genetics. Truly cannot recommend Mike more highly.

Not Just Puppies - Future Companions with Purpose
My pups are extremely intelligent, social, playful, loving, and are great with adults and children. Many of my pups go on to be trained as professional service and therapy dogs, due to their intelligence and quality breeding practices. My pups have been adopted by people in many states, and while I do ship my pups, I am very cautious about the process. I have received calls from Hawaii, Canada, and even Sweden. My pups go on to be amazing family companions, as well as service, therapy, hunting, and emotional support dogs.
I encourage you to check out my Google reviews, as they will give you a clear insight to both myself & my pups. Virtually all who end up adopting my pups have read through my website, read at least some Google reviews, and have also educated themselves on the breed they are interested in, including the general health, disposition, and character of the dog they are considering.
